Y’know those photos of mitten-clutched hot cocoas amongst fuzzy blankets and string lights? There’s a word for that level of coziness and a way to eat it, too! Here’s how to hygge! Hygge (pronounced “hoo-geh”) is a noun, adjective, verb, or compound noun. It’s the Danish term referring to a national Danish quality with no direct translation in English. It’s a cozy atmosphere which nurtures individual feelings of contentment, safety and relaxation. Hygge has qualities of humility, patience mindfulness and gratefulness.

THE JORDAN RIVER: My Pilgrimage

I've shared posts about houses of worship that were not mine and 11 countries later, I finally get to write about my own pilgrimage. This is my experience visiting the Jordan River’s famed Bethany Beyond the Jordan Jesus Baptism Site. I've briefly been to Saudi Arabia and saw waves of ardent pilgrims. I understood the significance but not the immensely personal, non physical healing pilgrimages offer. I totally appreciate that now. 2019 really was out here choking me and those I love. I say this in all heart-wrenching honesty: I do NOT know how I could've made it out without this memory.
