BLOGGER LIFE: Food Fact Digest
My 2018/2019 Food Fact Sources
Shortly after college, I had a semi-breakdown realizing I would no longer have to study or research! That’s how nerdy I am…
No fear, though! I’ve realized that as long as I want to, I can keep studying things on my own that' I’ve always wondered about. Like food!
Here’s some cool places I enjoyed learning some foodie facts from, so far!
PODCASTS
Proof: This show airs weekly (Tuesdays) and is hosted by Bridget Lancaster from America’s Test Kitchen. They “solve food mysteries, one story at a time.” The pace and tone of the show is very inquisitive, chill and nostalgic.
The Sporkful: I adore this podcast. It’s “not for foodies, it’s for eaters” and I would definitely count myself an eater before a foodie. This show is just for people who like to eat! It sounds like an ode. There’s facts and histories and stories… but this podcast is mainly about shared experiences. It’s upbeat and often heartwarming.
Gastropod: Every two weeks, this show explores food through “science and history.” Cynthia Garber and Nicola Twiley (members of the inaugural group of UC Berkeley-11th Hour Food and Farming Journalism Fellows) are both reporters who enjoy deep dives into food topics. If you like interviews with experts, lab visits and even archaeological digs… this is your thing.
SHOWS (Netflix, coz that’s what I have)
Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown: (If you need to know how deeply I appreciate Bourdain and his influence in my life, I’d rather just point you to my Bourdain Memorial blog post.)
Ugly Delicious: As an Asian artist… I really appreciate all David Chang brings to the table literally and figuratively. Lots of “food for thought.”
Somebody Feed Phil: Sometimes, I just like to live through this guy. I loved Everybody loves Raymond and that humor shines through in Phil’s glee while he eats and explores.

Migrationology- Mark Wiens: So goals. SO SO SOOO goals. GOOOOALS. GOOOOALS and frign goals… That’s all I can say.
BuzzFeed Video- Worth It: I wish this were my job. I envy these guys… partly because I honestly feel like I am equal parts Andrew and Steven.
