SAC EATS: Umai Savory Hot Dog

Dear Foodie Fam,

"Umai" うまい is the casual way to say "tasty" in Japanese!⠀
In the 1970s, a Vietnamese refugee family sought a new life in California. They never learned the traditional American way to serve a hot dog but they had a hot dog cart where they served hot dogs with whatever was tasty! Their knowledge of sushi led to Japanese fusion hot dogs and those led to a 27 flavor menu now served at Umai Savory Hot Dogs restaurant.⠀

POKU WINGS:

  • Wings are pork riblets.⠀

  • Braised/tossed in special sauce which has Kyoto Buffalo, Hoisin BBQ, Soy Glaze, Sweet Chili and Apricot Habanero sauces.⠀

  • Tender, soft (careful not to bite into bone!) and sauce doesn't overpower sesame taste.⠀

FRIES:

  • The fries themselves are long, crispy and thin, the way I like them!⠀

  • You can get furikake, garlic, bacon ranch, chili cheese, truffle, brisket or kimchi fries. ⠀

  • Love the truffle fries, garlic fries, and can't wait to try Furikake fries (I'm furious for furikake)!⠀

Ramune Cream Soda

I was told this was good and I honestly didn't expect much as I'm no fan of soda (except Coke, Pepsi or something caffeinated). But...the butterscotch cream soda changed my frigin life... It tastes like a butterscotch disk candy drop and is perhaps the only soda I would go to a restaurant to order... I know... gasps all around! haha⠀
