Dear Foodie Fam,

Bestie and I went to the 2017 Sacramento Greek Festival which was held at and benefited Sutter Middle School.

For over half a century, our local Greek community has let Sacramento taste it's vibrant culture, food and traditions. My best friend and I had one of everything at one food stall.

• Pitas traditional tiropita (feta) & spanakopita (spinach & feta)

• Lamb Pops - 2 lambs chop pops seasoned in a special Greek marinade

• Souvlaki - Grilled pieces of marinated pork with pita bread

• Loukaniko – special sausage with feta and olives pita bread

• Gyro – lean beef in pita bread, topped with onions, tomatoes, tzatziki sauce

• Calamari – seasoned strips of crispy fried calamari

The dinner was delicious but the favorites were, hands down, the Spaganaki and the Loukoumades. The fried cheese was fried live! The dessert of small donuts fried and covered in honey and nuts sent us to heaven!
