Dear Foodie Fam,

We could not have had a more passionate and considerate tour guide in Cairo than Emy Mustafa.

Dutch and I were a bit scared about having a personal tour guide call all the shots for a whole day but the packaged pricing for transportation, tickets and food was unbeatable.

We are so glad we did it because it was one of the best days of our lives.

It was so nice to sit back and take in the country while a private tour guide and driver showed us the sights. Being nerds, we loved Emy's diagrams and descriptions of the everyday city and country happenings as well as the grand historic icons like the Pyramid.  We've always been more of the explorers and this was the first time we ever had everything taken care of us (thanks to being spoiled by Hot Pink travel!).

First of all, check out all the awesome stuff we got to see in one day!

There was so much. And yet, even as info-hoards who peruse until closing in any given museum, we had more than enough time to see, selfie and learn about each site!

We also were able to see the Sphinx and a real papyrus-making fine art shop- but I can't find the photos! Oh, dear.

I can’t express how surreal it was to see all this when just a couple days ago I was at home in my pajamas working. Furthermore- to see it all in one day made me feel like I was soaring. It was amazing to see everything I'd read about in living color and all in the same day's drive.

As we walked slowly and gingerly through all the magic, Emy was more than patient. She still understands how magical this place is even though she sees this stuff all the time. She even took the time to teach Dutch how to properly wear the Keffiyeh (كوفية‎ kūfiyyah). We got it for Dutch's father, who lived and worked in Saudi Arabia and lost his own Keffiyeh.

If you ever get to Egypt, you've got to do this tour with Emy.
